Built From the Ground Up, the Right Way
Every redwood deck starts with a solid pressure-treated Douglas Fir (PTDF) foundation: a 2x8 PTDF ledger board anchored to your home, 4x6 PTDF support posts and beams, and 4x4 PTDF joists with 2x4 PTDF rim joists tying it all together. Con-Heart redwood 2x6 deck boards are installed on top for a smooth, durable walking surface.
Finishing touches include 2x8 and 2x10 fascia boards, a 2x6 cap rail on 4x4 posts, 2x2 balusters, 2x4 top and bottom railings, and a matching skirt around the base — all built from Con-Heart redwood for a consistent, finished look.

Composite decking is designed with outstanding durability, a long-lasting finish, and it's easy to maintain — no staining or sealing required. We've installed Trex decks in a range of colors and configurations, including named projects like Havana Gold, Pebble Grey, Vintage Lantern, and Spiced Rum (paired with a Con-Heart redwood arbor in San Jose's Rose Garden neighborhood).
